San Rafael Joe's once again hosted for our Wine & Dine event to benefit Camp Chance 2013.
Starting the evening off, guests were treated to appetizers and Schug 2009 Rouge de Noirs sparkling wine while they mingled and perused silent auction items. A slideshow of images from last year's dinner played in the background.
As the salad course began, San Rafael Youth Services Bureau's Rebecca Kuga welcomed everyone to the event, introduced San Rafael Chief of Police Diana Bishop, and master of ceremonies Ed Vaughn.
Throughout the dinner, Schug Winemaker Mike Cox presented a specially chosen wine to pair with each course (Schug 2012 Sauvignon Blanc, Schug 2010 Pinot Noir, Schug 2011 Chardonnay and Schug 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon).
A short video and slideshow of last year's camp highlights was screened, and Marin County Sheriff Deputy Dom Yazzolino spoke about his experience in the field — reflecting on the difference he sees this camp making for the youth he interacts with.
Auctioneer extraordinaire Ed Vaughn led a spirited live bidding for several auction items — ranging from a Palm Springs Desert Escape to a Texas Holdem Poker Tournament. One of the hottest lots up for bid was the private catered dinner at Schug Carneros Estate Winery in their underground barrel cave.
Guests also gave generously during the fund-a-need portion of the auction. The evening netted nearly $14,000 for Camp Chance, a program completely funded by donations from citizens and local businesses.
